Programme structure

Topics and learning outcomes:

1. How digital technologies are driving new industrial solutions (hackathon)

Students will learn about new digital transformation, as a new trend in industrial manufacturing. This session will introduce new digital technologies and how these technologies are driving new industrial solutions.

2. Increased productivity, resource efficiency, and a competitive edge: setting the scene for the hackathon (part 1)

Students will learn how digital transformation will increase productivity, resource efficiency, and a competitive edge in industrial manufacturing. This session will introduce an industrial scenario that will be used by the students to explore digital technologies and how these technologies can drive new industrial solutions.

3. Digital Technologies for increased productivity: setting the scene for the hackathon (part 2)

Students will learn about new digital technologies that can be used to drive new industrial solutions by the students.

4. Hackathon plan and organisation

Students will learn about different approaches to organise hackathons and will understand the “design sprint” approach that will be followed in this webinar.

5. 2 days of Hackathon in action

Students will learn and explore the different phases of the Google design sprint; starting in the understand and diverge phases; mentors will be available to support the students.

6. Hackathon: final presentation

Students will learn how to present and justify a complex solution to an industrial challenge; mentors will provide assess the presentation and provide valuable feedback
